Australian Chestnut Timber Grades
Select Grade
- Minimal natural features; subtle, uniform colour. Ideal for modern, refined interiors.
Standard Grade
- Small knots, minor gum veins, and slight colour variation. Offers natural character with consistent appeal.
Feature Grade
- More visible natural features including knots, gum veins, and grain variation. Retains structural integrity and may require minor filling during installation.
Prestige Grade
- A mix of Select and Standard boards. Often used for wider boards or where a combination of clean and character boards is desired.
Rustic Grade
- Combines lower Standard and Feature boards to produce a strong, natural character floor.
Rustic Industrial Grade
- Mix of Standard, Feature, Cover, and Homestead boards. Supplied as T&G profile; requires careful selection for structural applications.
Homestead Grade
- Select-looking boards with sticker marks from processing. Some marks may sand out, others may remain visible.
Cover / Utility Grade
- Maximum natural features including large knots, gum veins, and surface checking. Not recommended for a polished finish; careful selection required.
